How Does IV Sedation Work?
We begin with a consultation to ensure that IV sedation is right for you. We will ask questions about your medical history and evaluate your health. If you are a good candidate for IV sedation, we will plan to provide this service at your appointment. You will need to arrange for a ride home on the day of your procedure.
When you arrive for your appointment, we will administer an anti anxiety medication intravenously. To ensure your safety, we will monitor you throughout your procedure.
You will feel calm and relaxed soon after the medication takes effect. Any anxiety or tension you were feeling will melt away. You may even feel so comfortable that you fall asleep, but you can easily be woken up to answer a question, follow an instruction, or go home.
After the dentist is finished, your friend or family member will take you home to rest.
